THE WINES:
Domaine Porto Carras “Melissanthi” – Greece – 50% Assyrtiko, 50% Athiri
Pale yellow color, delicate aromas of lemon, white flesh fruits of peach and nectarine with a touch of mint on the finish. Full bodied with delicate acidity and rich aromatic finish
Erzetič Winery Rebula – Slovenia – 100% Ribolla Gialla
Rebula is the name of the varietal in Slovenia. A pale lemon yellow color with some golden tinges. On the nose, it is subtle but multi-layered with ripe yellow fruits such as pears and apples with a gentle spicy note of cloves. Dry, with light body and crisp acidity, typical of Ribbolla.
Bock Kékfrankos – Hungary – 100% Kékfrankos (aka Bläufrankisch)
A medium bodied dry red wine, garnet in color, with a distinct magenta rim. Fruit forward on the palate with hints of violets and blueberries, gives way to soft minerality and spiciness,
perfectly balanced together.
Chateau Porto Carras – Greece’s version of a Bordeaux blend with Limnio (instead of Petite Verdot), Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
Limnio has been used in wine production since Ancient Greek times.
This is a full bodied red wine with a deep purple color. Complex aromas dominated by black berried fruits and vanilla. On the palate it is delicate, smooth, and smoky with structure and balance. Rich and long velvety finish.
Kupljen Winery Rumeni Muškat– Slovenia – 100% Muscat
This is a delightfully refreshing frizzante, semi-sweet wine delicious as an aperitif or with dessert. It has a pale lemon yellow hue and aromatic nose of muscatel grapes, white flowers, and roses. On the palate, a slight effervescence in the beginning which softens. Lingering finish.
